God desires more than outward compliance with His commandments. He wants our hearts. Although people may obey God because of fear, expected blessings, religious obligations, or other motivations, genuine Christian obedience should flow from sincere love for Him.
Obedience that depends mainly on favourable circumstances, material benefits, or human pressure can easily be shaken when circumstances change. But obedience rooted in genuine love remains steadfast even when following God becomes costly.
Jesus did not merely command Peter to feed His sheep; He first asked, “Lovest thou me?” Our love for God must be the foundation of our service, sacrifice, and obedience to Him.
We should not obey God merely because of what He can give us, what we fear losing, or what people expect of us. We should obey Him because we genuinely love Him.
When love is the root of our obedience, we will seek to please God not only in public but also in secret, not only in prosperity but also in adversity, and not only when His will agrees with ours but also when obedience requires personal sacrifice.

The Christian journey is a spiritual race that requires perseverance, discipline, and faithfulness to God. Jesus warned His followers to hold fast to what they have received so that no one would take their crown. This warning is especially important in these last days when deception, false teachings, worldly pleasures, and spiritual compromise are leading many away from the truth. Many believers begin their Christian journey with great enthusiasm but gradually become distracted by the cares of this world, the love of money, ungodly relationships, and the desire for human approval. Others are deceived by false teachers who encourage worldly living while neglecting repentance, holiness, and obedience to God’s Word. We must be careful about whom we follow and the teachings we accept, because not everyone who speaks in the name of Christ represents Him faithfully. The Apostle Paul remained steadfast despite persecution, hardship, and opposition. At the end of his ministry, he confidently declared that he had fought a good fight, finished his course, and kept the faith. We must follow his example by remaining faithful to Christ until the end. Do not allow anyone to deceive you into exchanging your eternal reward for temporary earthly pleasures. Hold fast to sound doctrine, resist temptation, and continue in holiness as you await the return of Jesus Christ. Remember, it is not enough to begin the Christian race; we must also finish it faithfully. Jesus described His followers as the salt of the earth. Salt preserves, adds flavour, and influences whatever it comes into contact with. In the same way, believers are called to exercise a godly influence in a world increasingly affected by sin and moral corruption. However, Jesus also warned that salt can lose its savour. When Christians abandon holiness, compromise biblical truth, and conform to the sinful practices of the world, they lose their spiritual distinctiveness and weaken their testimony. We cannot effectively influence the world for righteousness if we continually imitate its ungodly ways. Our conduct, speech, relationships, and decisions should demonstrate the transforming power of the Gospel. We must stand for truth without compromising our Christian character. As we await the return of Christ, let us preserve our spiritual savour and remain faithful witnesses of His righteousness in this generation. The fear of the Lord is essential for a life of holiness, wisdom, and obedience. It is a deep reverence for God that causes us to honour His Word, hate evil, and turn away from sin. A person who genuinely fears God will not deliberately continue in disobedience while claiming to love Him. Unfortunately, many people today treat sin lightly because they have lost the consciousness of God’s holiness and coming judgment. Some emphasize God’s love and mercy while neglecting His righteousness and justice. Although God is merciful and gracious, He remains a holy Judge before whom every person will give an account. The fear of God should influence our thoughts, decisions, conversations, and conduct, even when nobody is watching us. As we await Christ’s return, let us remember that nothing is hidden from God’s sight. A heart that truly fears the Lord will seek to please Him in both public and private life.
