There’s a falling away of many in today’s Christianity. Majority of Christians have been distracted from the basics of Christianity. They are now after the “additions” instead of pursuing “the Kingdom of God and His righteousness”.
There are times in life when you are faced with temptations and you lack the strength to overcome. If you lack strength don’t lack zeal. Even if everything around you is crumbling and you have no strength to overcome don’t give up on yourself and on God.
This is the testimony of how I overcame backsliding at one of the weakest moments and darkest season of my life. I am sharing it with the Body of Christ to let us know that standing strong in the Lord and overcoming backsliding is entirely without our personal human strength, but by God’s grace. I hereby encourage you to stop measuring your personal strength before choosing whether to obey God or keep His commands. Brethren, if you lack strength don’t lack zeal. Even if your flesh is weak let your spirit be willing.
Jesus Christ commands us to be perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect. Is this standard of perfection beyond our achievement? If this is God’s standard for us what do we now do?
“So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. (John 21::15-17)
Before Jesus Christ left He promised to be with us till the end of the world. Matthew 28:20 “lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Therefore, whenever Christians gather in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we secure His presence.
Prayer is communication with God. Prayer attracts the attention of God and makes angels to spring into actions. It brings down the Holy Spirit’s abiding presence. Prayer is one of the ways we can fan our fire of the altar of our bodily temple into flames and make the body a conducive temple for the Holy Spirit to dwell. Prayer drives away demons that attack our relationship with God. If you can “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and “every where, lifting up holy hands” (1 Timothy 2:8) you will always keep the fire of your altar burning, and fellowshipping “with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.” (1 John 1:3).
Worshipping or praising God involves your whole being – your spirit, soul and body – fellowshipping with God in the spirit. This tunes your whole being to focus on spiritual things.
When one worships in spirit and in truth, sometimes you have GOOSE PIMPLES during worship. Sometimes you even CRY, not because of pains but because of the realization of the awesomeness of God’s goodness.
How scarce is God’s presence today? It is extremely scarce. But you can actually bring down God’s presence and also retain it. There is so much to gain when you live in this dimension of Retaining God’s presence.
