The love of God makes God to discipline His Children when they go astray. The purpose of chastising us is to correct us and make us turn to Him. Instead of being discouraged when we face chastisement, let’s reciprocate this act of love by making use of God’s grace and mercy by turning back to Him.
God’s Grace is the good will, loving-kindness, favour, merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues.
We are not just commanded to study the Bible but we must also make sure we have the right doctrine – the very same that was handed over to us by Jesus Christ and the Apostles.
A Pastor is a shepherd that takes care of the flock of Jesus Christ. He is expected to treat them exactly the way the Owner says He should treat them. This treatment is according to the written Word. Pastors are commanded to “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.” (2 Timothy 4:2). Unfortunately, many pastors don’t use the Word of God to rebuke their members when they are going astray. If a man of God, who is a spiritual father, refuses to discipline his spiritual children it means he is treating them like bastards because it is only a bastard that will not be disciplined, as we are told in Hebrews 12:5-8.
Some people are tempted to ask if God really exist because of what’s happening in our world today. Some have concluded that God does not care about the affairs of this world anymore. This is not true. God is supreme and His will is superior to all the wicked devices of the devil and his cohorts. Please listen to this message and you will understand that God is very much in charge of this world.
The love of Jesus Christ for the Church makes Him to correct believers whenever they are going astray. Those He loves He rebukes and chastens (Revelation 3:19). We are not to get discouraged when the Lord rebukes us, rather we should take it seriously and be happy because a child that is never disciplined is not a legitimate child.
