The Bible warns that the day of the Lord will come with great judgment upon sin and rebellion. While the world may continue in its normal activities, God’s appointed day will come suddenly. Those who belong to Christ should remain watchful and live holy lives as they await His coming. Let us never mistake God’s patience for the cancellation of His judgment. Scriptural Readings for the Day 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3 (KJV) 2 “For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.” 2 Peter 3:10 (KJV) “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” Revelation 6:15-17 KJV 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? Prayer Almighty God, help me to live prepared for the day of Your judgment. Keep me faithful, watchful, and holy as I await the return of Jesus Christ. Amen.
