The new birth is the supernatural work of God through which a sinner is spiritually regenerated by repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. At salvation, God forgives our sins, gives us a new heart, and makes us His children.
Every person is born with a sinful nature that separates them from God. While good works, moral living, religious activities, and church membership are commendable, they cannot remove sin or change the human heart. Trying to be a good person is not enough because God requires not merely a better life but a new life. That is why Jesus declared, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3, KJV).
The new birth is therefore the doorway into God’s Kingdom. It transforms us from within, gives us a new nature, and empowers us to live according to the principles and lifestyle of God’s Kingdom.
