Jesus expects His servants to remain faithful and productive while they wait for His return. Waiting for Christ does not mean withdrawing from responsibility or becoming idle. We are to faithfully carry out the work He has placed in our hands until He comes. Let us remain busy in God’s service and not waste the time we have been given. The return of Christ will take place at a time that many people do not expect. Therefore, spiritual readiness cannot be postponed until tomorrow or reserved for special occasions. We must live faithfully every day, knowing that any day could be the day of His appearing. The best way to prepare for Christ’s coming is to walk faithfully with Him now. God’s grace is available today, but the opportunity to prepare will not remain open forever. In the parable of the ten virgins, the door was eventually shut, and those who were unprepared could no longer enter. This should teach us the urgency of repentance, obedience, and readiness. We must respond to God while there is still time. The parable of the ten virgins teaches us that outward association with God’s people is not enough; every believer must remain personally prepared for the Bridegroom. The foolish virgins discovered too late that preparation could not be borrowed at the last moment. We must maintain a living relationship with Christ and keep our spiritual lives burning. Do not wait until the final moment to seek God. When Jesus spoke about troubling events that would come upon the earth, He did not tell His followers to live in fear. Instead, He told them to look up because their redemption was drawing near. The increasing darkness of the world should remind believers that God’s promises are moving toward fulfilment. Rather than becoming discouraged, we must lift our eyes toward Christ and remain faithful.
